A curse seems to befall Sumaru City where rumors that are spread well enough end up becoming reality. Somewhere out there lies someone dangerous who is manipulating the rumors for their own objectives. Joker retreats, but everything isn’t right regardless. The heroes then acquire the ability to use Personas and manage to fend off Joker.
He warns the heroes of a great disaster that will eventually happen and tells them that they must figure out how to solve it. Who introduces them to the concept of Personas. As they are on the verge of defeat, they meet someone called Philemon. Afterward, a fight breaks out and the main characters battle Joker. He says that everyone there committed a horrible sin in the past and that they must pay for it. A mysterious person calling himself Joker appears. In the middle of it, something goes wrong. One day he gets involved in a gang fight. The story of Persona 2 follows a high school student named Tatsuya Suou. Last, is the story of the game which takes place in the modern day society of Sumaru City. Also, battles are much faster then the first Persona game. Persona 2 introduces new fusion attacks in battle which are attacks that combine several attacks into one powerful attack. Beyond that, both the gameplay and story of Persona 2 is excellent too. All of the character portraits are great, the sprites are well detailed, the animations are incredible and the character/monster designs are extremely well done. To begin with, the graphics are excellent. The game is a drastic improvement from the first Persona game. While Persona 2 was not the first Shin Megami Tensei game to abandon the first person perspective it was the first major console SMT game to do so. Navigation and battles are completely in third person. Instead the game is entirely in third person.
No longer was the entire game played from a first person perspective. Persona 2: Innocent Sin marked a big change for the Persona series. Through the fan translation, people were able to play through Persona 2: Innocent Sin in English from start to finish. Prior to the PSP port being localized officially by Atlus, the PS1 version of the game was fan-translated. Sadly, the game was never localized before the PSP port came about. Later, April 14th, 2011 a PSP port of the game was released.
It was originally released for the Playstation in Japan. Shin Megami Tensei Persona 2: Innocent Sin was the second game of the Persona spinoff series.
